Lori L. Tharps is an associate professor of journalism at Temple University. A graduate of Smith College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, Tharps is also the author of Kinky Gazpacho:Life, Love & Spain(Atria) and the novel, Substitute Me (Atria). She is the co-author of the award-winning book, Hair Story:Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America (St.Martin’s). Tharps has also written for many popular newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Glamour, Essence and Ebony magazines. When she’s not reading or writing for work, Tharps enjoys reading and writing for fun.
